This campground is part of a local historical park and recreation area. A rare exhibition coal mine is the centerpiece attraction surrounded by a coal industry museum and historical village. There is also a small children's museum that my kids liked a lot when we went. The historical buildings come with some live interpretation such as a guide in the old school house and actual services in the old church. The local community has invested a lot into this attraction and they have created something nice. The camping situation is unknown to me. It is close-in neighborhood, and the apartment complex across the street looks a little intimidating to me.

The museum is wonderful. Very friendly knowledgeable staff. My husband went down in the mines while I toured with my 6 year old granddaughter. The best part was the restored school house. The guide made it so much fun for everyone.

We we're returning from Colonial Williamsburg and Historic Jamestown; everyone enjoyed this as much or more than those sites. And the drive along Rt 64 was beautiful. We will go back in the fall and enjoy the changing colors.

Nice spot. $45 for 3 people 3 tents I thought was pricey

The campground is up on the mountain overlooking the Mine Exhibition museum. Although the road was narrow and winding, we had no problem getting up there pulling a travel trailer.

Staff were very courteous, and professional. The main camping Loop was tight, but appeared well-maintained. The tenting area had no marked sites, so early comers were parked over tentable areas, and it was a bit of a free-for-all. Bathrooms were dated, limited, and of average quality.
